The Moving Finger writes, and having writ,
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a line,
Nor all your tears wash out a Word of it.

the new year has begun.. and i'm still not feeling it. somehow.. this time round time doesn't really seem to matter to me. i'm not sure why. prolly cos i can't seem to get a hold on it as of yet. still lost.. but hopeful! hoping to find a job i love (or like enough).. hoping to be fulfilled in life at least. taking each day one at a time, not much expectations as of yet.. prolly too early to make any. have yet to come up with my list of resolutions! but am inspired to do so. will get it done.. eventually. HAHA. i am super super gian to go on a hol (preferably to a cold country but seriously.. anywhere is gd enough) and i ABSOLUTELY CRAVE DIVING AND SNOWBOARDING! DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT! craves for the brave. i've come to accept certain things in life that i hv been delusioned and stubborn with before.. and i know now how things should be. have yet to do up my danny's list. will hv to rmb to do that soon. tho there's no way i cld forget him or anything about him. i still miss him a lot. everytime i think of him, my heart enters this blackhole that i stop myself from entering. cos i know.. once i enter.. there is no turning back. its been almost a year now.. but the wound is still fresh. the pain is immense and almost indescribable. it's so dark and deep i don't ever think i'll be able to claw my way back from it. alas, time may heal all wounds.. but can one really forget? or do we just move on?

conflicted conflicted conflicted. am i doing what i want? is this where i wanna go? am i just making mistake after mistake? can this really just keep happening to me over and over again? apparently it can. ahhh!! what a headache. i guess i will just go with the flow and see what happens. it's amazing how many thoughts one can keep in our heads. and its particularly interesting how random those thoughts can be. just like this entry i suppose. oh well. time to hit the books again :D

Am I not pretty enough?
Is my heart too broken?
Do I cry too much?
Am I too outspoken?
Don’t I make you laugh?
Should I try it harder?
Why do you see right through me?

I live, I breathe, I let it rain on me,
I sleep, I wake, I try hard not to break,
I crave, I love, I’ve waited long enough,
I try as hard as I can.

Am I not pretty enough?
Is my heart too broken?
Do I cry too much?
Am I too outspoken?
Don’t I make you laugh?
Should I try it harder?
Why do you see right through me?

I laugh, I feel, I make believe it’s real,
I fall, I freeze, I pray down on my knees,
I hope, I stand, I take it like a man,
I try as hard as I can.

Am I not pretty enough?
Is my heart too broken?
Do I cry too much?
Am I too outspoken?
Don’t I make you laugh?
Should I try it harder?
Why do you see right through me?

Why do you see, why do you see, why do you see right through me?

i am twisted...

seriously.. i twisted my neck. nearly died while my dad tried to help me reduce the pain. whatever he did.. it worked! i cld turn my head at bigger angles. however, it's still mother f***ing pain. spoils the mood for anything and everything. hopefully i recover before the msia trip. damnit.  i can't decide if having a sprained neck or sprained foot is worse. they're both equally bad. it's causing me to have major headaches. oh what to do...

i realise.. the 3 of us (me, kc, shan) alws end up taking random & horrigible pics at random times and places. AND we alws look sooo different each time. haha. how much can a person change man!

Things to do:

1) take the car for servicing
2) buy some salonpas medicated plasters for my bloody neck
3) arrange trips with ml and/or shan
4) upload aged old sch pics before jiayi kills me
5) extend lib due dates
6) find bridge/mj/supper khakis!
7) eat steak! lol
8) play badm
9) pack luggage for msia trip

emo_gal86

feeling sad and happy. happy that i get a break. sad that i'm leaving so many people behind. its a strange strange feeling. sometimes u just wanna die of frustration, stress, anger or sian-ness in school. but at the same time memories have been formed and you miss it all the same. especially the colleagues who you see day in and day out. the routine in life that you've gotten so accustomed to. feels so weird that i no longer have to drive down the same road to sch and wake up so goddamn early inta morning just to sing the national anthem etc. tho i really do think i'm not mature enough to be a teacher yet. a lot of times i feel as tho i'm still a student and i'm not ata right point in my life to be a teacher yet. to appreciate being a teacher more like.

amusingly stressed on friday. even tho it was my last day. had lessons cos my darling pooner was on course. then had to settle all the returning keys, signing forms, getting all the hods to sign forms, clear desk, recycle some stuff, write some notes to some colleagues to thank them. only wrote like a handful of notes inta end. cos i seriously ran outta time. like the auntie who was closing e staffroom actually had to wait an additional 10min for me. i was running ard the staffroom trying to randomly dump notes here n there. goodness. its ironic that i was so free and relaxed the wks prior to my last day. ironic indeed. ahh man.. i'm missing my colleagues and bits of peicai already and its only been 2 days. strange. perhaps absence really does make the heart grow fonder. hmm...

anw i was really touched on friday. the party that my form class and cinda threw for me, the collage they did and some presents and personal letters i received. even when i was talking to cinda, we were both slightly tearing somehow. so emo man. goodness. can you really miss an environment you once supposely hated since day 1? teaching was definitely a profession i nv considered ata beginning n a job i prolly was determined not to like. i suppose time really does change everything. or perhaps we are just fickle. RESPECT MAN.

something to reflect or ponder?

interestingly enough when i was clearing up my room, i found this little list i made in uni year 2 during econs tutorial. EC1101E. i wrote it during tutorial, alongside the company of my darling tutorial friend (sorry i forgot who i took econs with... was it evelyn?) while my econs tutor, was staring ata board blankly. she was a PRC, prolly a noob and my list was titled 'REASONS TO FIRE THE TEACHER'. i then began to list 13 reasons why she should be fired.

1) language barrier (very very poor command of english)
2) dresses poorly (t-shirt and jeans)
3) makes no sense (she really didn't, noone understood her)
4) contradicts herself (like in the next split second kind, oh and she tends to talk to herself)
5) pauses too long to think redundantly (harsh but true.. she didn't seem to know her work)
6) smiles at herself (in a creepy way)
7) confused about her own work (need i say more)
8) skips questions (she makes us do the work and she skips a major part of it! wtf)
9) arrives late for lessons (like 15min late.. wth)
10) talks in incomplete sentences (no comments)
11) poses to think very unglamly (yes.. i couldnt even stand the way she stood)
12) jumps into the answer without looking at the question thoroughly (we questioned her intelligence here)
13) poor explanations (very random and HUH?)

now that i understand the pains (there's always gd and bad) of being a teacher and have new found respect for those inta teaching profession, i feel a tad guilty being so harsh on her. but on retrospect, i guess everything in my list was true. and yes, back to the previous entry on BLAME, i do blame her for de-inspiring me to finally do well for econs ( i really tot i had a gd 2nd chance to love/understand the subject post jc). ah well. can't believe this week is almost over. feeling both happy and sad.

weather blabber

blame it on the weather, blame it on the skies, blame it on everything that goes awry. blame it on the people, blame it on genes, blame it on everything that makes me want to scream. blame circumstances for loss of hope, blame it on society for structuring moulds. blame it on the country for not being cold, blame it on people who never grow old. blame it on youth, blame it on the recession, blame it on upcoming competition. blame it on the second guesses, blame our darkest thoughts. blame me, hate me, hate myself for hating me. confusion, is all i see. shambles of life that fragment me. inner turmoil, myself, i can no longer see. have i really lost me?

ENP Learning Style

ENPs like to be busy and active, and need a lot of stimulation to keep from getting bored. They find tasks that require rote memorization intensely boring. They also don't do well with following pre-defined steps that someone else has come up with. ENPs like to be involved in their projects. They will only put effort into things that they are very interested in doing, which typically means that they need to have come up with the idea or contributed to it somehow. Alternatively, they can be motivated to participate in projects if someone else has really sold them on the idea, and thus inspired them to be interested in the project.

ENPs are distracted easily from the task at hand, and need to really develop their ability to focus in on what they're doing and close out environmental distractions. This is an acquired skill for ENPs. This does not mean that the ENP should be put in a room by themselves to work on their assignments. This would actually be detrimental to the ENP. They work best with others, and around others. They should be encouraged to work on their projects in the presence of others, but to remain focused on what they're doing.

ENPs have trouble finishing projects that they have begun. This is partially due to the fact that they are easily distracted environmentally, but also due to the fact that they quickly lose interest in their projects once they are past the planning phase. ENPs love to come up with interesting ideas and things to do, but find the process of actually implementing their plans to be tedious. ENPs will not finish all of their projects, and this should be understood, but the ENP should be encouraged to complete some projects all the way through to the end. This is an important step for the ENP, who needs to learn the value of following through.

The most valuable thing that can be taught to an ENP is the concept of narrowing their focus. The ENP has many ideas going on at once in their head, and believes that they can do everything. They are not realistic in their scope. They should be told repeatedly "pick one thing and do it well". The adult who is able to impress this upon the young ENP will be giving them a tremendous gift.

ENPs are not very concerned with their grades, or with doing their homework. They will resist doing assignments that they find tedious. They are far more interested in understanding the theory behind a problem than they are in actually doing the problem. They learn best by theory rather than by example. They need to understand the theory before they can do anything. Teachers should communicate the theory behind the practical application in order to get through to the ENP.

Let's use division as an example. Some children learn how to divide numbers best by doing it over and over again. They learn by example and repetition. Once they have done a lot of different division problems, they understand how it works and are comfortable with dividing numbers. ENPs learn division best by understanding the concepting of dividing a whole number into smaller parts. They see a circle with a line drawn down the middle, and understand that the whole has been cut in half, or "divided" in half. Once they understand the theory, they can apply this to their division problems and they are comfortable with dividing numbers.

ENPs are goal-oriented, and do well when given the goal and left alone to achieve it in their own way. They don't like being told explicitly how to do things. They value their own ideas and competence, and treat explicit instructions almost as an insult to their intelligence. They want to be given a goal and a general theory, and use their own resources to fill in the blanks.

ENP Special Needs

ENP children are extremely perceptive about people, and can determine someone else's attitude pretty easily. If a parent disciplines their ENP child reluctantly or with hesitation, the ENP will pick up on that immediately and perceive that they might be able to get away with pushing you to not discipline them. In general, the ENP tests their boundaries regularly, and will always try to push their boundaries out a bit further. If they're supposed to be in bed at 9:30, they'll push for 10:00. When they get 10:00, they'll push for 10:30. Boundaries and guidelines need to be defined explicitly and firmly for the ENP child.

ENPs believe that anything is possible, so they have a hard time accepting that they can't get their way. This creates a problem for parents trying to create guidelines for their ENP children's behavior. ENPs believe that surely things could be worked out in any situation so that the ENP gets want they want, and consequently they have a really hard time accepting that they're not going to get their way. For an ENP, being told that they can't do something or have something is perplexing and troubling. They will push repeatedly and ask repeatedly for whatever it is that they're seeking. In order for them to accept their parent's judgment, they need to be told WHY the parent has set the rule or boundary. The rule needs to be defined explicitly to the ENP child, with no room for alternative interpretation.

ENP children are very independent and find their greatest source of self-esteem from their abilities to do things well. They want to do things for themselves, and resist having their parents or other adults telling them what to do. An adult can best encourage a growing ENP by showing interest in their projects and admiration for the ENP's ideas, and by letting the ENP figure out how to do things on their own without too many specific instructions. This is different from the approach that should be taken when defining guidelines for behavior. Rules and boundaries should be set firmly for the child, but specific instructions on achieving goals should be avoided.

The "Missing" Letter

Adult personality types contain four letters, while for kids aged 7-12 we use three letter types. What happened to the missing letter? It's there, we just can't usually determine what it is until after a person is around 13 years old. ENP kids will grow up to be either ENTP "Visionaries" or ENFP "Inspirers". At this stage in their development, it's not obvious whether they will choose Thinking or Feeling to complement their preference for Intuition. You will see the child practicing both Thinking and Feeling as they settle down into their preferred function. In some children, it's possible to distinguish their "missing" letter, but for many kids we just have to wait a few years to be sure.

PART B: As an adult

Portrait of an ENFP - Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving
(Extraverted Intuition with Introverted Feeling)

The Inspirer

As an ENFP, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you take things in primarily via your intuition. Your secondary mode is internal, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit in with your personal value system.

ENFPs are warm, enthusiastic people, typically very bright and full of potential. They live in the world of possibilities, and can become very passionate and excited about things. Their enthusiasm lends them the ability to inspire and motivate others, more so than we see in other types. They can talk their way in or out of anything. They love life, seeing it as a special gift, and strive to make the most out of it.

ENFPs have an unusually broad range of skills and talents. They are good at most things which interest them. Project-oriented, they may go through several different careers during their lifetime. To onlookers, the ENFP may seem directionless and without purpose, but ENFPs are actually quite consistent, in that they have a strong sense of values which they live with throughout their lives. Everything that they do must be in line with their values. An ENFP needs to feel that they are living their lives as their true Self, walking in step with what they believe is right. They see meaning in everything, and are on a continuous quest to adapt their lives and values to achieve inner peace. They're constantly aware and somewhat fearful of losing touch with themselves. Since emotional excitement is usually an important part of the ENFP's life, and because they are focused on keeping "centered", the ENFP is usually an intense individual, with highly evolved values.

An ENFP needs to focus on following through with their projects. This can be a problem area for some of these individuals. Unlike other Extraverted types, ENFPs need time alone to center themselves, and make sure they are moving in a direction which is in sync with their values. ENFPs who remain centered will usually be quite successful at their endeavors. Others may fall into the habit of dropping a project when they become excited about a new possibility, and thus they never achieve the great accomplishments which they are capable of achieving.

Most ENFPs have great people skills. They are genuinely warm and interested in people, and place great importance on their inter-personal relationships. ENFPs almost always have a strong need to be liked. Sometimes, especially at a younger age, an ENFP will tend to be "gushy" and insincere, and generally "overdo" in an effort to win acceptance. However, once an ENFP has learned to balance their need to be true to themselves with their need for acceptance, they excel at bringing out the best in others, and are typically well-liked. They have an exceptional ability to intuitively understand a person after a very short period of time, and use their intuition and flexibility to relate to others on their own level.

Because ENFPs live in the world of exciting possibilities, the details of everyday life are seen as trivial drudgery. They place no importance on detailed, maintenance-type tasks, and will frequently remain oblivous to these types of concerns. When they do have to perform these tasks, they do not enjoy themselves. This is a challenging area of life for most ENFPs, and can be frustrating for ENFP's family members.

An ENFP who has "gone wrong" may be quite manipulative - and very good it. The gift of gab which they are blessed with makes it naturally easy for them to get what they want. Most ENFPs will not abuse their abilities, because that would not jive with their value systems.

ENFPs sometimes make serious errors in judgment. They have an amazing ability to intuitively perceive the truth about a person or situation, but when they apply judgment to their perception, they may jump to the wrong conclusions.

ENFPs who have not learned to follow through may have a difficult time remaining happy in marital relationships. Always seeing the possibilities of what could be, they may become bored with what actually is. The strong sense of values will keep many ENFPs dedicated to their relationships. However, ENFPs like a little excitement in their lives, and are best matched with individuals who are comfortable with change and new experiences.

Having an ENFP parent can be a fun-filled experience, but may be stressful at times for children with strong Sensing or Judging tendancies. Such children may see the ENFP parent as inconsistent and difficult to understand, as the children are pulled along in the whirlwind life of the ENFP. Sometimes the ENFP will want to be their child's best friend, and at other times they will play the parental authoritarian. But ENFPs are always consistent in their value systems, which they will impress on their children above all else, along with a basic joy of living.

ENFPs are basically happy people. They may become unhappy when they are confined to strict schedules or mundane tasks. Consequently, ENFPs work best in situations where they have a lot of flexibility, and where they can work with people and ideas. Many go into business for themselves. They have the ability to be quite productive with little supervision, as long as they are excited about what they're doing.

Because they are so alert and sensitive, constantly scanning their environments, ENFPs often suffer from muscle tension. They have a strong need to be independent, and resist being controlled or labelled. They need to maintain control over themselves, but they do not believe in controlling others. Their dislike of dependence and suppression extends to others as well as to themselves.

ENFPs are charming, ingenuous, risk-taking, sensitive, people-oriented individuals with capabilities ranging across a broad spectrum. They have many gifts which they will use to fulfill themselves and those near them, if they are able to remain centered and master the ability of following through.

Carpenters- Yesterday Once More

When I was young
I'd listen to the radio
Waitin' for my favorite songs
When they played I'd sing along
It made me smile.

Those were such happy times
And not so long ago
How I wondered where they'd gone
But they're back again
Just like a long lost friend
All the songs I loved so well.

Every Sha-la-la-la
Every Wo-o-wo-o
Still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling
That they're startin' to sing's
So fine.

When they get to the part
Where he's breakin' her heart
It can really make me cry
Just like before
It's yesterday once more.

Lookin' back on how it was
In years gone by
And the good times that I had
Makes today seem rather sad
So much has changed.

It was songs of love that
I would sing to then
And I'd memorize each word
Those old melodies
Still sound so good to me
As they melt the years away.

Every Sha-la-la-la
Every Wo-o-wo-o
Still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling
That they're startin' to sing's
So fine.

All my best memories
Come back clearly to me
Some can even make me cry.
Just like before
It's yesterday once more.

A genius says goodbye for good

He says:

If God, for a second, forgot what I have become
and granted me a
little bit more of life, I would use it to the
best of my ability.

I wouldn't possibly, say everything that is
in my mind, but I would
be more thoughtful of all I say.

I would give merit to things not for what they
are worth, but for
what they mean to express.

I would sleep little, I would dream more,
because I know that for
every minute that we close our eyes, we waste
60 seconds of light.

I would walk while others stop; I would awake
while others sleep.

If God would give me a little bit more of life,
I would dress in a
simple manner, I would place myself in front of
the sun, leaving not
only my body, but my soul naked at its mercy.

To all men I would say how mistaken they are
when they think that
they stop falling in love when they grow old,
without knowing that
they grow old when they stop falling in love.

I would give wings to children, but I would
leave it to them to learn how
to fly by themselves.

To old people I would say that death
doesn't arrive when they grow old, but

with forgetfulness.

I have learned so much with you all, I have
learned that everybody
wants to live on top of the mountain, without
knowing that true
happiness is obtained in the journey taken
& the form used to reach
the top of the hill.

I have learned that when a newborn baby holds,
with its little hand,
his father's finger, it has trapped him for
the rest of his life.

I have learned that a man has the right and
obligation to look down
at another man, only when that man needs help
to get up from the ground.

Say always what you feel, not what you think.
If I knew that today is
the last time that that I am going to see you
asleep, I would hug you
with all my strength and I would pray to the
Lord to let me be the
guardian angel of your soul.

If I knew that these are the last moments to
see you, I would say 'I love you'.

There is always tomorrow, and life gives us
another opportunity to do
things right, but in case I am wrong, and today
is all that is left to
me, I would love to tell you how much I love
you & that I will never forget you.

Tomorrow is never guaranteed to anyone, young
or old. Today could be
the last time to see your loved ones, which is
why you mustn't wait;
do it today, in case tomorrow never arrives. I
am sure you will be
sorry you wasted the opportunity today to give
a smile, a hug, a kiss,
and that you were too busy to grant them their
last wish.

Keep your loved ones near you; tell them in
their ears and to their
faces how much you need them and love them.
Love them and treat them
well; take your time to tell them 'I am
sorry';' forgive me',' please'
'thank you', and all those loving
words you know.

Nobody will know you for your secret thought.
Ask the Lord for wisdom and
strength to express them.

Show your friends and loved ones how important
they are to you.

Send this letter to those you love. If you
don't do it
today...tomorrow will be like yesterday, and if
you never do it, it
doesn't matter, either, the moment to do it
is now.

For you, With much love,
Your Friend,
Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Death is nothing at all

Death is nothing at all

I have only slipped away into the next room

I am I and you are you

Whatever we were to each other

That we are still

Call me by my old familiar name

Speak to me in the easy way you always used

Put no difference into your tone

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow

Laugh as we always laughed

At the little jokes we always enjoyed together

Play, smile, think of me, pray for me

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was

Let it be spoken without effort

Without the ghost of a shadow in it

Life means all that it ever meant

It is the same as it ever was

There is absolute unbroken continuity

What is death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind

Because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you for an interval

Somewhere very near

Just around the corner

All is well.

Nothing is past; nothing is lost

One brief moment and all will be as it was before

How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
